Construction Benvas Inc. pleads guilty to bid-rigging, fined $100,000

Construction Benvas Inc. pleaded guilty and was fined $100,000 for its role in a bid-rigging conspiracy related to an infrastructure repair project in Quebec, the Bureau announced on October 11, 2016.

Construction Benvas Inc. was paid $25,000 by the winning bidder, CIV-BEC Inc., for unlawfully agreeing not to submit a bid for the infrastructure repair project on Courville St.

This is the second guilty plea in respect of the Courville St. project.  A Quebec company, Construction Beaudin & Courville Inc., pleaded guilty to bid-rigging in January 2016 and was fined $35,000.

The trial against the main defendants is set for the spring of 2017.
